Awards

We aim to produce the best and most delicious extra virgin olive oils and to achieve this we are constantly looking for ways to improve our practices. We are lucky to be members of a regional association the Goulburn Strathbogie Olive Growers Association where at regular meetings we learn and exchange information on methods of improving olive oil quality. The Association has also developed a Quality Seal to ensure oil originates from our region and has been independently tested for quality.

Entering competitions where our oils are assessed by qualified judges in comparison with the best in Australia and globally is another useful way to ensure we are producing top quality extra virgin olive oils. Below are our recent awards for our three main varietal olive oils.

Latest Awards

We've just received an email (August, 2017) from the Australian Food Awards (ie. Melbourne Fine Foods) to say we've won a Gold medal for both Picual and Frantoio and Bronze for Leccino.

The judges comments were:

Picual

  • Complex strong green fruity aroma. Banana butter, bitter herb in the mouth. Excellent balance and very big long lingering finish. Well made, fresh clean oil. GOLD MEDAL.

Frantoio

  • Very complex well-made oil. Fresh olive fruity notes in the mouth with hints of apricot and vanilla. Extremely well balanced and harmonious, and with a very long lingering finish. GOLD MEDAL.

Leccino

  • Fresh aroma, pleasant mouthfeel. Good balance, nice oil. BRONZE MEDAL

And even better - the Picual was awarded Best in Class which in this show means best Extra Virgin Olive Oil. There were 89 entries so we're pretty chuffed.

For more details, visit the Awards web site. Note that the list is not in order of points achieved but entry number, so you have to go to the end to see where our Picual starred!
